Tyre History

History of Tyre Invention

Tyre is a most important parts of any vehicles to runs smooth. The history of tires is wide because in ancient time people make a round shape to take heavy load from one place to another place. After that men continuously improving it to make better.

Evaluation of Tyre:-

1844

Charles Goodyear invented vulcanized rubber.

1847

Tires were bands of leather, then iron, and later steel, placed on wooden wheels

again1847

(Robert William Thomson) First patent for a standard pneumatic tire appears

1888

First practical pneumatic tire made

1890

CK Welsh patents the design of a wheel rim

1895

Pneumatic tires used on an automobile for the very first time but the attempt isn't sucessfull

1903

P.W. Litchfield patents the first tubeless tyre

1904

Mountable rims were introduced. Frank Seiberling also invents grooved tires which offers improved traction.

1905

Frank Seiberling invents tread tire for improved traction

1910

Carbon black added to rubber to improve the life of tires

1911

Philip Strauss makes the first successful automobile tyre, had air filled inner tube

1920

Synthetic rubbers invented

1923

Balloon tyre invented

1937

Invention of the first synthetic rubber tyres, Chemigum patented

1946

Radial tyre construction patented

1947

Tubless tyre invented

Tyre Mismatching

Tyre Mismatching Tyres mismatching is a most important consideration factor because if two mismatch Tyres mount on same axle then Tyres life decreases 50%. Now i tell all about Tyres mismatching. Types of Mismatches Tyre pattern Tyre Construction Size Air Pressure Non-Skid Dept 1.  Tyre pattern  When we mount in a single hub a block pattern, and another is rib pattern type. In this way, this type of fitment called mismatching which is known as pattern mismatch. This type of fitment is not acceptable in single hub or multiple hubs. Pattern should  use: - 1.Lug to Lug 2.Rib to Rib 3.Block to Block 4.Rib Block  to  Rib Block 2. Tyre construction  When a nylon and radial tires are fitted in the same hub, the mismatch is called construction match. Construction should  use: - 10.00R20 to 10.00R20 295/90R20 to 295/90R20 Because both tires construction is different from each other. 295/90R 20: - 295 is section width and 90 is the aspect...

Training Modules

Customer Basic Requirements Tyre must fulfill the four customer requirements. 1. To carry the load Tyres always carry load just like passengers and cargo. Tyres supports the weight when vehicle in dull condition but when vehicle in motion Tyre must also resist the considerable loads shifts during acceleration and braking. A car Tyre has to carry over 50 times of its own weight, it is remembered that the part of Tyre actually carries air inside the Tyres. 2. To transmit the driving and braking forces The Tyres transmit the acceleration and braking forces to the road through footprint area. A change in inflation pressure modifies the footprint area, therefore proper air inflation is crucial for the Tyre to fulfill this function. 3. To change and maintain direction This is the steering function in which Tyres help maintain a straight line or change direction.  The Tyre must steer predictably, regardless of the road or weather conditions. The Tyre should transmit steering inputs ...
